Old Business
Caps and Bur-gees:
Ron McKay is the only new member that hasn’t received their cap and bur-gee. Dana Adams will follow up with Bob Pryor on ordering some more caps, half a dozen or more depending on any price break on quantities the club might receive.
Fall Regatta:
Tentative schedule for a fall regatta would be around the end of October or possibly the first part of November. Several potential racers would be out of town on anything earlier than those dates. The event should also be scheduled around other events such as the Lake Tyler fall regatta, and the regular scheduled races on Saturday at Lake Palestine. It is not known when Lake Tyler will have their fall regatta, and races on Lake Palestine are currently scheduled for Oct 7th, and Oct 21st. So possible dates are Oct 28th or November 4th.
Wednesday Night Races:
With the recent bad weather and several members out of town or otherwise unable to attend, the Wednesday night races attendance was lacking. With most of the racers back in town, resumption of the race is currently scheduled for July 5 at 7:00 pm.
New Business
Upcoming Social Events:
The LPYC July 4th event is scheduled for July 2nd when Eagle’s Bluff will have their fireworks display. Members are invited to gather at 7:00 pm at Dana’s for the fireworks. Bring your lawn chairs, and of course BYOB. If you are interested in eating before hand you can eat at the Eagle Bluff’s buffet. The fireworks at Emerald Bay are currently scheduled for July 3rd.
The September Third Friday is hoped to feature a presentation on sailing skills by C.D. Sharp if he is available for that event.
Race Handicap System:
Several members are interesting in trying a different handicap rating system such as Portsmouth handicap rating with the racers starting at the same time. The races could either be concurrent with the currently scheduled races or as a separate event. Another suggestion was splitting the current series into spring and fall races. Ben Hooks and Chuck Brazell hope to discuss the ideals with the race chairman in a few weeks.
Next Director Meeting:
The next meeting is scheduled for July 11th, at 5:00 PM at Ben Hooks office.
Adjournment
Motion by Dana Adams. Seconded by Steve Lowe to adjourn. Approved.
