MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES
Present at meeting: Steve Lowe, John Owens, Ben Hooks, Dana Adams, Rick Walker, and Lynn Easley.
Call to order by Steve Lowe.
Present Minutes from last meeting
The minutes were presented by Lynn Easley.
Motion to accept by John Owens, seconded by Rick Walker.
Financial Report
With the absence of our Treasury for the summer, the financial report was presented by Steve Lowe.
No new income or disbursements since the last monthly meeting.
Our regular Treasurer will be back in town by the next meeting.
Motion to accept treasury report by Ben Hooks, seconded by John Owens, all in favor.
Old Business
Barge update and next barge work day:
The next barge work day is scheduled for September 17th, starting around 9 am till whenever. Rich Munson has bought the supplies needed for the next phase of improvements.
Upcoming social activities:
The next upcoming event will be the 3rd Friday social to be held at Sonoma Bar and Grill on September 16th.
A raftup is scheduled for the evening of October 15th.
Barge work day scheduled for Oct 1st.
A dock party is scheduled for October 21st , at Lake Palestine Marina.
Barge work day scheduled for October 22nd.
A third Friday event is scheduled for Nov 18th, with the venue to be decided later.
The annual Christmas party will be held at Eagle's Bluff on Dec 10th.
The annual meeting will be held on the third Saturday of January.
The directors also discussed plans to have a Christmas boat parade on the evening of December 17th . Rick Walker will coordinate with Emerald Bay to hopefully get more participants.
Ben Hooks also suggested a series of short presentations before the 3rd Friday events covering such topics as racing rules and sailboat trim.
Race series updates:
The directors debated the current scoring system for the race series for non members of the LPYC. It was agreed that the current scoring system gives little incentive for non member racing participants to join the LPYC and also scores from non members will affect the race standings of members. It was suggested that points should not be awarded to non-members participating in the series. Steve Lowe will discuss the proposed changes with the race series coordinator.
New Business
LPYC Regatta:
Ben Hooks proposed the club host a regatta next year either in the spring or fall. The regatta would consist of a race separate from the current race series using PHRF rules. Other local yacht clubs would be invited to participate in the event. Planning would have to start early next year to include the event in next year's schedule.
Next Directors Meeting:
The date for the next meeting will be Tuesday October 11th at 4:30 PM, at Ben Hooks office.
