1/18/25 Annual Meeting.
The Lake Palestine Yacht Club held their 2024 annual meeting at Roma's located in Tyler. Attended by 16 members, the club elected the officers and directors for the 2024 year. The current incumbents running unopposed were reelected by acclimation. The directors reelected for 2024 were Steve Lowe, Peter Pitonack and Lynn Easley. Officers chosen for the 2024 year are Brent Boyle as Commodore, Steve Lowe as Vice Commodore, John Springer as Treasurer, and Lynn Easley as Secretary.
Newly elected Brent Boyle discussed possible events for the 2024 year. Some of the events planned are the Spring and Fall races, a summer series of races. The third Friday socials are expected to continue. Other events include dock parties and overnights on the boats.
With several last minute cancellations, fourteen members attended the Lake Palestine Yacht Club 2022 Annual meeting. Members were treated to a Mexican buffet at Emerald Bay's Presidents Room. Commodore Rick Walker provided a history of the club for the newer members. John Springer provided the Treasure's Report and proposed budget for 2022. Ashley Tackett provided a proposed list of activities for the 2022 calendar.
Of course the main purpose of the annual meeting is the election of directors and officers for the 2022 calendar year. Rick Walker was re-elected as a director, and Ashley Tackett and Nat Hart were elected as directors. Steve Lowe and Rich Munson will fill the interim director positions.
The officers for the 2022 calendar year will be Rick Walker as Commodore, Ben Hooks as Vice Commodore, John Springer as Treasurer, and Lynn Easley as Secretary.
Rick Walker gave a closing statement emphasizing the importance of members being active in the club for its success and growth as a club.
Here is to a successful and fun 2022!
A selection of photo's and stories sent in from our membership of their boating activities this summer.
First up is our recently retired John who is showing us how to spend our retirement. He is currently spending his first summer sailing on the Great Lakes, where it is rumored he occasionally needs a sweater!
Water, water every where, and I'm sure no one would want to drink this water. In a seaming series of floods heavy rains have once again flooded Lake Palestine. This latest flood has sent waters over four feet the normal full lake level. And more rain is still in the forecast. Special thanks to all the members help take care of the boats in these situations. Here we have Dicksie and John checking lines on the boats.
